About The Position
This posting supports all new graduate Registered Nursing positions at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, Virginia Beach, Virginia. It covers all statuses and shifts for units currently placing new graduate Registered Nurses. Sentara offers a Nurse Residency Program for newly graduated Registered Nurses with less than 12 months of experience, designed to provide the skills and support needed for a successful transition into professional practice. The program includes automatic enrollment for all newly hired graduate nurses, available at all 12 Sentara hospitals. After orientation, residents begin a 6-month program with hands-on experience alongside trained preceptors in Medical-Surgical, Intermediate Care, Critical Care, Emergency, Operating Room, and Women's Health. Topics covered include career pathing, professional development, leadership, self-care, and stress management.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited RN program
- Current Virginia RN license or eligibility to obtain one
- Graduating soon or graduated with less than one year of RN practice
Nice To Haves
- Less than 12 months of RN practice experience
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care as a Registered Nurse.
- Participate in the Nurse Residency Program for 6 months.
- Gain hands-on experience in various units including Medical-Surgical, Intermediate Care, Critical Care, Emergency, Operating Room, and Women's Health.
- Engage in learning topics such as career pathing, professional development, leadership, self-care, and stress management.
