About The Position

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Neuroscience ICU. This is a full-time position with 36 hours per week. The Registered Nurse is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN must possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet the standards required by specific clinical areas. The Neuroscience Critical Care Unit provides intensive care for patients with severe neurological conditions such as strokes, brain hemorrhages, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, tumors, and seizures. The unit utilizes a multidisciplinary team, advanced monitoring technology (continuous EEG, intracranial pressure monitoring), and coordinated care to improve patient outcomes. Candidates with critical care experience or a minimum of 1 year of stepdown or med/surg experience will be considered. Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Registered nursing License (Required)
• BLS required within 90 days of hire
• Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire.
• Minimum of 1 year emergency, intermediate care, intensive care or med/surg highly preferred

• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

• Utilize the standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation).
• Adhere to the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health).
• Provide intensive care for patients with severe, life-threatening neurological conditions.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
• Utilize advanced monitoring technology like continuous EEG monitoring and intracranial pressure monitoring.
• Provide coordinated care to stabilize and support patients.
