About The Position

The Neuro Trauma Intensive Care Unit has 36 beds, 24 in the NTICU and 12 in the NVICU with one associate group for both units. The primary focus in NTICU is trauma and neuro trauma. Our typical patient diagnoses are MVA/MCA, TBI, penetrating trauma, assaults, SDH, SAH, IVH, SCI and orthopedic fractures. In the NVICU, we primarily see stroke patients, post IR patients, craniectomy for tumor resection/debulking, SAH/IVH (non-trauma) and status epilepticus. We work very closely with our physician groups to collaborate on care. Nursing is well respected and a vital part of the care team for the patient. We have a strong culture of teamwork within the unit and have developed a well-rounded residency program for bringing in new nurses to the ICU. This position assumes responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. You will promote the optimal health, well-being, and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines, and the State Nurse Practice Act, and demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.

Requirements

  • RN License required
  • Current state nursing licenses or RN licenses from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact
  • Colorado Only: RNs working in Colorado under a multi-state license must obtain their CO RN license within 30 days of establishing residency.
  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • BLS from the American Heart Association required
  • ACLS from the American Heart Association required within six months of hire
  • NIHSS and TCAR certifications required within six months of hire
  • One year of ICU RN experience required
  • Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
