About The Position

Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned. The unit, 3 North, is a 22-Bed Medical-Telemetry and Nephrology Unit consisting of adult and geriatric patients, working on a track schedule with a patient ratio of 1:6. The Care Team consists of Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, Unit Secretary, Resource Nurses, Clinical Educator and Nurse Manager.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing or equivalent required
  • Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
  • Verbal and written skills required
  • Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills
  • Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served
  • Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
  • Visual acuity for observation of patients
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds
  • BLS - American Heart Association
  • RN - Board Of Nursing

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Three years of related experience preferred
  • Greater than one year of experience in medical-surgical or critical care nursing
  • This role requires a high level of empathy, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
  • Possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, high attention to detail, and direct patient care

  • Assesses the patient and identifies patient care needs
  • Uses patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient care

  • Monitors the quality of care based on pre-established outcome-oriented indicators
  • Actively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient services
  • Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients
  • Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimen
