About The Position

Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital is looking for a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse to join our team! This is a part-time position with a night shift schedule, working 2, 12-hour shifts a week, including rotating weekends and holiday coverage. The role involves providing direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization, caring for patients with life-threatening, medically complex critical illnesses or diagnoses, and delivering highly skilled care with the use of technology and complex interventions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing
  • Six months' registered nurse experience
  • State of Work Location: Missouri Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration OR Registered Nurse (RN) Issued by Compact State
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA) OR Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) OR Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Academy Pediatrics (AAP) OR Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA) OR Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) - Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) OR Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Essentials - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)

Responsibilities

  • Cares for patients with life threatening, medically complex critical illness or diagnosis.
  • Delivers highly skilled care with use of technology and complex interventions.
  • Initiates measures for emergency treatment of patients including infant resuscitation and advanced life support procedures.
  • Implements and monitors patient care plans.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
  • Notes and carries out physician and nursing orders.
  • Assesses and coordinates patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
  • Applies the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring that nursing care is delivered based on patient’s age-specific needs and clinical needs as described in the department's Scope of Service.
  • Demonstrates the professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model.
  • Uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide his/her response to the current and evolving health and nursing needs of our patients and our patient populations.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
