Under general supervision and in accordance with the policies, procedures and guidelines established within the organization, the unit, and the Michigan Public Health Code, the registered nurse manages the care delivery for patients in the organization throughout the length of stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge. This involves utilizing the nursing process, coordinating care, delegating tasks, providing direct patient care, and documenting/communicating patient responses and needs. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. The role also includes specific responsibilities related to the Scrub RN role, interpreting procedure cards, assessing case carts, anticipating physician needs, monitoring patient condition, managing equipment and supplies, and acting as a resource. Additional requirements may apply for specific departments or hospitals within the system, such as on-call duties or specific certifications.
