About The Position

Humber River Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join their Mother Baby Unit. As North America's first fully digital hospital, Humber River Health is dedicated to innovation in healthcare, using technology and clinical expertise to improve patient care and reduce inefficiencies. They serve a community of 850,000 residents in North West Toronto and prioritize equity, inclusivity, and community connection. The hospital is affiliated with the University of Toronto and Queen’s University, focusing on clinical excellence and research. This role is a temporary full-time position lasting until November 2026.

Requirements

  • Current RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
  • BCLS/CPR certification upon hire to show proof of valid current certification (Registered Nurses currently employed by HRH are exempted).
  • Current NRP certificate required or agreement to obtain within 3 months of commencement into position.
  • Previous experience with antepartum and postpartum women as well as new born infants.
  • Good patient /family teaching skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required with an ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team as well as with parents and families from a diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Good organizational skills required, with an ability to be flexible and work effectively in a busy environment with changing priorities.
  • Willingness to be cross-trained to one other area within the Women’s & Children’s Health Program.
  • Willingness to rotate to other departments as required.
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in initiating IV therapy in infants and adults an asset.
  • Obstetrical Nursing Certificate an asset.
  • Breastfeeding Certificate an asset.
  • Recent postpartum and new born care experience preferred.
  • Bereavement/palliative nursing care skills an asset.
  • Ability to facilitate and promote family centered care.
  • Second language an asset.
  • An understanding of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles as they relate to health practices is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • RN responsibilities, with a focus on assessment and total patient care of antepartum and postpartum women as well as new born infants.
  • Patient and family education and support.
