Registered Nurse, Mom/Baby - Full Time, Nights
About The Position
Registered Nurse (RN) Lactation Consultant at Texas Health Plano. This is a full-time, 36-hour position working nights (7:00pm – 7:00am) in the Mother/Baby Department. The unit is a 36-bed Mother/Baby Unit with an Active Unit-Based Council and opportunities for personal growth through NCAP. Texas Health Plano has served the communities of Plano, Frisco, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson, and McKinney since 1991. It is a 386-bed, full-service hospital specializing in emergency medicine and trauma, cardiology, neurosurgery and spine, advanced orthopedics, women’s services, adult and adolescent behavioral health, an adult intensive care unit, and technologically advanced surgical services. It is a Level II Trauma Facility, the only health care facility in Collin County to have achieved both Level IV NICU and Level IV Maternal facility designation, and has a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Program. Texas Health Plano is a four-time Magnet-designated hospital, the only AACN Beacon Gold adult intensive care unit in the DFW area, accredited by the Joint Commission in Hip and Knee Replacement, and a Primary Heart Attack Center.
Requirements
- Diploma in Nursing or Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program required
- One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.
- BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
- NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation Program within 90 days required
- CPI – Crisis Intervention Training within 90 days and maintained annually required
- RN – Registered Nurse upon hire required
Nice To Haves
- BSN preferred
- One year of Mother/Baby experience strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Assesses the patient
- Plans the care of the patient
- Intervenes as appropriate
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions
- Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
- Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
- Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
