About The Position

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse for their Medical/Telemetry unit. This position is for the first shift (days). The role involves managing a diverse adult patient population with complex medical conditions in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care using the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Professional performance standards such as ethics, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, resource utilization, and environmental health are also integral to the role. The RN will assess and admit patients, perform rounding checks, administer medications, communicate with family members, and be responsible for the overall care of patients. The unit is known for strong interdisciplinary collaboration, professional autonomy, and a culture that values bedside nursing expertise. Requirements

  • RN Diploma, ADN, BSN or MSN
  • RN License valid to work in the State of Virginia
  • BLS and NIHSS within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Implementing the standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation).
  • Adhering to the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health).
  • Assessing/admitting patients.
  • Performing rounding checks.
  • Giving medications.
  • Talking with family members.
  • Being responsible for the overall care of patients.
