About The Position

This is a Registered Nurse position in a Medical Surgical unit, specifically focusing on Trauma. The role involves caring for patients with a variety of diagnoses including those from the ED, OR, or ICU. Services on the unit include geriatric trauma (55+ with trauma), general trauma (abuse/violence victims, MVA, MVC, Falls), and acute care surgery (appendicitis, gallbladders, hernia repairs, fistulas, wounds, burns, TBI). The hospital is a Magnet & Teaching Hospital and a Level I Trauma Center with 1,266 total staffed beds.

Requirements

5 years of experience required.
Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
Certs required: BCLS, ACLS.
Must pass Relias EKG exam.
Interpretation/Management of Dysrhythmias required.
Experience with Med/Surg.
Experience with Blood Product Administration.
Experience with Peripheral Line Care/Management.
Experience with Phlebotomy.
Experience with Starting IVs.
Experience with Insulin.
Experience with PCA.
Experience with Spinal cord injuries.
Experience with Traumatic Brain injury.
Experience with Ortho trauma.
Experience with Peripheral nerve block catheters.
Experience with Total Joint Replacements.
Experience with Surgical drains.
Experience with Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac.
Experience with CPAP/BiPAP.
Experience with High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).
Experience with Nasal Cannula.
Experience with Oral suctioning.
Experience with Oxygen face masks.
Experience with Portable Oxygen tank.
Experience with Isolation Precautions.
Experience with Wound Care/Wound Vac.
Level 1 Trauma Experience.
Pending License accepted.

Responsibilities

Care for patients with diagnoses from ED, OR, or ICU.
Manage geriatric trauma patients (55+).
Care for trauma patients including abuse/violence victims, MVA, MVC, and Falls.
Provide care for acute care surgery patients such as appendicitis, gallbladders, hernia repairs, fistulas, wounds, burns, and TBI.
Float within scope to meet facility needs.
Make up missed shifts as soon as possible if able.
