RN Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical - 36 Hours Weekly - Night Shift
About The Position
Henry Ford St John Hospital’s 6 West Medical Surgical unit is a 23-bed unit specializing in the treatment of various medical and surgical diagnoses including sepsis, kidney stones and gallstones, GI bleeds, home falls, etc. The unit maintains a nurse to patient ratio of approximately 5:1 and is supported by Patient Care Technicians. It is a team-oriented environment that encourages voluntary participation in committees such as the Tulip Council, Fall Champion Group, and Shared Governance. The hospital welcomes candidates of all educational backgrounds and experiences, ensuring successful training in this environment. The role involves providing direct nursing care according to established policies, procedures, and protocols, implementing and monitoring patient care plans, recording and communicating patient conditions, coordinating care among disciplines, carrying out physician and nursing orders, and assessing and coordinating patient discharge planning needs with the healthcare team. Requirements
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR required professional licensure at time of hire.
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
- Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
- Perform job-related duties beyond those explicitly described.
