Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical
About The Position
Raleigh General Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time, in-person position on its Medical Surgical unit. This role is crucial in fulfilling the hospital's mission of making communities healthier. The 4N department is a 44-bed medical-surgical unit with a 6:1 patient ratio, focusing on a mix of surgical and medical cases, with a specialization in renal care. The unit is known for its collaborative environment, making it suitable for new graduates. Nurses on this unit gain experience with various interventions, including lines, chest tubes, peritoneal dialysis, and telemetry. The Infusions Clinic, staffed by RNs, provides outpatient infusion services Monday-Thursday. The Dialysis Unit offers inpatient hemodialysis 24/6 with on-call Sunday coverage, staffed by specialized RNs.
Requirements
- Current state RN license
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school
- Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire
- ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire
Nice To Haves
- One year of experience preferred
- ASLS certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Performs accurate and thorough patient assessments and identifies patient needs
- Initiates appropriate nursing interventions based on assessment findings
- Provides age- and condition-appropriate nursing care
- Completes timely and accurate documentation supporting medical necessity in the medical record
- Develops, implements, and revises interdisciplinary care plans for each patient
