About The Position

Provides compassionate, culturally sensitive, holistic nursing care to patients in a clinical setting. This role utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients. The nurse administers prescribed medications and treatments, performs assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care, and documents according to standards. A patient plan of care is developed and executed based on individualized needs, physician's orders, and clinic policy, including patient and family instruction. The position involves participation in department or unit performance improvement activities, potentially including shared governance. The nurse uses clinical expertise to guide other units and departments, and critical thinking regarding patient safety and experience, escalating appropriately. Participation in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities, decisions, and peer review is expected. The role encourages offering ideas and solutions to practice issues, using innovative methods to develop and implement care plans, and providing innovative patient-family education. Interdisciplinary collaboration is initiated to meet patient/family educational needs. The nurse actively participates in mentoring and precepting new employees, positively influences professional and organizational environments, and engages in personal development and continuous learning, including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines. A minimum of 1 departmental or unit performance improvement activity is required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • ADN required upon hire
  • Minimum of 2 years experience required.
  • Licensed as an RN in state of practice
  • Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act.
  • Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.
  • Documents according to standards of care.
  • Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and-or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.
  • Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.
  • Utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units and-or departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.
  • Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.
  • Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process.
  • Offers ideas and-or solutions to practice issues.
  • Uses innovative methods and intuitive skills to develop and implement plans of care.
  • Provides innovative ways to educate patient-families
  • Initiates interdisciplinary collaboration to meet the patient/family educational needs.
  • Actively participates in mentoring and precepting new partners to the organization.
