This position is on 6900 GI/GU at BJH. Candidate must provide excellent care to our patients. Must have excellent documentation skills. Also, must have the desire to work as a team. IV skills and phlebotomy are required. Must have 2 years med surg experience. The unit has a high turnover of surgery patients. Patient diagnoses include ostomy, colon resection, colon cancer, bladder cancer, GU, and medical overflow. The position requires passing a Relias EKG exam, with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias required. The unit administers Heparin, Lidocaine (pain only), Bicarb, Bivaldirubin, Amiodarone (stable non-titrated) occasionally. They also utilize PCAs, Epidurals, and CBIs with different irrigation solutions. Centralized tele is available, and nurses should have basic knowledge of telemetry. Special procedures include foleys, CBI continuous bladder irrigation, TURPS, and protocols for colorectal patients. The facility is a Magnet & Teaching Hospital with Level I Trauma Center and 1266 total staffed beds.
