About The Position
Saint Mary’s Hospital’s 27-bed Medical Surgical/Ortho-Neuro-Ortho Unit specializes in caring for adult patients with stroke, orthopedic, and neuro-spine conditions, as well as patients with a range of other medical and surgical needs. Nurses deliver high-quality, compassionate care in a collaborative and supportive environment. The unit uses a Virtual Nurse, the Together Team Model; the Virtual RN has at least seven years of experience and supports bedside staff with admissions, discharges, patient education, purposeful rounding, and team communication. This part-time position is listed as a 12-hour night shift role. The posting also describes a 36-hour-per-week night schedule with rotating every-other-weekend and holiday work. Pay is $37.25–$61.75 per hour, based on RN experience and potentially varying by location. The role is based at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
- Hold a valid Connecticut RN license.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- One or more years of medical-surgical or neuro/ortho experience in an acute inpatient setting.
- BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adult patients with diverse medical and surgical needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Monitor patient progress, administer medications, and perform treatments in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Educate patients and families about post-operative care, rehabilitation, and recovery.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with safety and quality standards.
