This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Medical Surgical Oncology unit. The role involves caring for adult to geriatric patients with oncology diagnoses from diagnosis to death, as well as hematology diagnoses. Responsibilities include managing patients with DNR/CC status, oncologic emergencies, and occasional off-service patients. The nurse will administer chemotherapy, manage morphine drips, dilaudid drips, CADD pumps, and PCA pumps. The unit has a ratio of 1:6, with 19 beds and an average daily census of 15. Experience with Epic (required), Pyxis, and SBAR is necessary. The required scrub color is Navy Blue. RTO is a maximum of 7 days. This is an every other weekend position. Floating is required within the facility and potentially to Piedmont Augusta Summerville, located 3 miles from the main campus. There are no call requirements. Holiday work is expected as follows: if one major holiday falls within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it; if two major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work both; if three major holidays fall within the assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of them. Major holidays include New Year’s Eve and Day, Spring Break (no RTO), Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, and Christmas Eve and Day. Full compliance is required to start on time; non-compliance will result in a two-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation schedules. Aya Offers are available if the candidate signs, confirmation is sent, and the manager approves within 48 hours, provided the clinical pass is within RTO guidelines and meets facility requirements. Locals are accepted at the same rate. The number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours is determined by the contract length.
