About The Position

Sentara is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) at Norfolk General Hospital's Medical Specialties Department, in Norfolk Virginia. A sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 is offered for qualified candidates. This is a full-time, day shift position (7a-7p). The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care, utilizing the nursing process which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching, health promotion, and evaluation. Professional performance standards encompass ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. All Direct Care RNs are required to have BLS within 90 days of hire. The Medical Specialties Unit is a 42-bed unit recognized for its achievements in delivering safe, high-quality care. The diverse patient population includes conditions such as CHF, Sickle Cell, Renal Failure, Vascular issues, Sepsis, COPD, Pneumonia, Osteomyelitis with Surgical Interventions, and Wound Care. The unit features one main nursing station and seven substations, allowing nurses to visualize their assignments and manage their work areas. Equipment includes EPIC integration for efficient data input. The team operates with a "no staff left behind" motto and utilizes walkie-talkies for communication, including management. The team is invested in assisting each other to deliver stellar care.

Requirements

  • RN Degree
  • Virginia RN License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90-days of hire

Responsibilities
