About The Position

This specific role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) on a general care medical unit (Domitilla 6B) specializing in Medical/Pulmonary patients. The unit focuses on comprehensive care for patients from Chest and Medicine services, often presenting with complex conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, cystic fibrosis, and pleural disease. The nursing team, including RNs and Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), works collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary framework to enhance patient care and promote professional development. The RN is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care, adhering to the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model and ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice. The role involves leadership activities like precepting, informal/formal leadership, and quality improvement efforts. RNs delegate patient care based on skill, experience, acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. Excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills are essential. Some employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship, requiring state licensure and VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Requirements

Graduate of a nursing program recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA.
One year of RN experience required.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020, and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Experience working in a team environment.
Computer skills required.
Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends and on-call.
Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
BLS (Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post start date; acceptable certifications include: American Heart Association (AHA)/ Heartcode® BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers).
Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
