About The Position

In critical care, our nurses are highly skilled and trained; helping to provide expertise at the bedside and the highest quality care in the most compassionate way. The units heavily rely on a team-based mentality in which all healthcare team members work congruently to achieve the best outcomes based on the Hartford Healthcare values of Safety, Excellence, Integrity and Caring. The Medical-Neuro ICU is a 16 bed adult inpatient unit caring for critically ill medical and neuro-science patients. We provide care to patients with a wide range of complex, highly acute medical/neuro issues utilizing a variety of advanced technologies and devices including CRRT, monitoring intracranial pressures, brain tissue oxygenation and hemo-dynamic monitoring. Our patient population include but are not limited to; respiratory failure, gastrointestinal bleeding, liver injury/failure, kidney injury/failure, sepsis, drug/alcohol withdrawal, stroke, head/spinal cord trauma and brain hemorrhage. RNs in this specialty also must have a family-centered approach because of the critical nature of our patients. We also work closely with our Critical Care Pulmonologist, Neuro-intensivist, Physician Assistants and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses to provide the highest quality of care for our patients.

Requirements

  • Current Connecticut RN License
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school (BSN Required)
  • BLS certification by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS certification
  • Proof of Arrhythmia Certification required prior to date of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one year Acute Care RN experience strongly preferred
  • In exceptional circumstances, experienced ASN/ADN nurses currently in pursuit of a BSN or MSN may be considered
