About The Position

Sentara RMH Medical Center is now hiring a Registered Nurse for the 4 East Medical Surgical unit. This position is ideal for candidates who have experience or interest in caring for surgical patients that have had General Surgery, Gastrointestinal, OB-Gyn, Orthopedics, Vascular, Urology, Nephrology, and more. Sign on bonus up to $15,000 offered plus relocation assistance (if specified criteria is met). The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. Sentara RMH Medical Center, a Magnet designated hospital located in Harrisonburg VA, serves a seven-county area with a population of 218,000 residents, employing 2600 locals. Requirements

Registered Nurse license
Associates Degree – Nursing OR Bachelor’s Degree - Nursing
Previous acute care experience preferred

Responsibilities

Performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.

Adhering to standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
Utilizing clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
Participating in the 10-week Transition to Practice (TTP) program, which includes formal delivery of fundamental nursing concepts and standards, exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines, hands-on experience with a nurse preceptor, and opportunities for peer networking.
For new graduates, participating in a comprehensive 6-month residency program as a continuation of the TTP program.
