About The Position

Sentara RMH Medical Center is now hiring a Registered Nurse for the 4 East Medical Surgical unit. This position is ideal for candidates who have experience or interest in caring for surgical patients that have had General Surgery, Gastrointestinal, OB-Gyn, Orthopedics, Vascular, Urology, Nephrology, and more. Sign on bonus up to $15,000 offered plus relocation assistance (if specified criteria is met). This 10-week TTP program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in Medical-Surgical areas. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support your transition to practice. Program includes: • Formal delivery of fundamental nursing concepts and standards with in-person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs • Exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines • Hands-on experience alongside a trained nurse preceptor • Opportunity to share your experiences/ networking with peers in a safe, protected environment • A series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring (optional for experienced nurses).

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse license
  • Associates Degree – Nursing OR Bachelor’s Degree - Nursing
  • Previous acute care experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.
  • The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
