Requirements

  • Completed courses for nursing from an accredited program approved by either the Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
  • A current license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth in the U.S. or the District of Columbia.
  • A minimum of two years' experience in this field.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes the nursing process and interdisciplinary approaches for comprehensive patient care.
  • Perform nursing duties aligned with physician-prescribed treatments.
  • Assist patients with daily activities and administer medications per facility policies.
  • Collect patient and family histories, documenting them in medical records.
  • Conduct patient assessments, revise care plans, and communicate essential data to medical staff.
  • Execute physician's orders, responds during emergencies, and assist in surgical/diagnostic procedures.
  • Educate patients and families on prescribed treatments, assessing and recording their comprehension.
  • Manage patient transfers, administer respiratory care, and ensure professionalism in adherence to VA service standards.
  • Verify and implement physicians' orders, administer IV fluids, and blood products following established protocols.
  • Maintain a neat appearance, uphold patient rights, including privacy, and consistently demonstrates courteous conduct as per VA guidelines.
