About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) Med/Surg provides both direct and indirect nursing care, utilizing independent judgment, nursing actions, flexibility, organizational skills, and an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. The role requires proficiency in telemetry and involves providing direct, continuous, and comprehensive patient care in alignment with facility policies. The RN performs nursing functions related to physician-prescribed treatments, ensures the delivery of effective and targeted care, and plays a vital role in surgical procedures. Responsibilities include assisting patients with activities of daily living, operating as a circulating nurse, administering medications and IV therapies, documenting plans of care, and recognizing and initiating appropriate measures in emergencies and assisting with surgical/diagnostic procedures.

Requirements

  • Possess a bachelor's degree in nursing and eligibility under the Superior Academic Achievement provision -OR- Possess of a bachelor's degree in nursing and at least one full year of professional nursing experience-OR- Possess a diploma or associate degree in professional nursing.
  • Possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
  • Have a minimum of 24 months experience in a Med/Surg or PACU environment during the last 36 months.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as approved by the American Heart Association (AHA) are mandatory for all specialties.

  • Assists patients with activities of daily living, supportive and caring environment.
  • Operates as a circulating nurse, facilitates coordination during medical procedures to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Administers medications and IV therapies in compliance with local facility policies, ensures the safe and accurate delivery of prescribed treatments.
  • Documents plans of care and care provided in the patient's medical record, maintain accurate and detailed records.
  • Recognizes and initiates appropriate measures in emergencies and assisting with surgical/diagnostic procedures, demonstrates quick thinking and adaptability to dynamic situations.
