About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with experience in Med/Surg Telemetry to join our team. This role requires the ability to handle a variety of patient diagnoses, including orthopedics and bariatrics, in a telemetry setting.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Med/Surg Telemetry.
  • First-time travelers will be considered with at least 3 years of experience in the specialty.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • Active South Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • 1 year of experience with EPIC Electronic Medical Records is required.
  • Strong knowledge of patient care in Med/Surg and Telemetry settings.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to educate patients and families.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to handle critical situations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care in the Med/Surg and Telemetry units, including monitoring patient vital signs and ECG readings.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the healthcare provider.
  • Float to other Prisma Health units or campuses as needed to meet census requirements (only float to units qualified for).
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Document patient care activities, assessments, and interventions accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment plans, discharge instructions, and general health management.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures and provide safe, compassionate care to all patients.
  • Respond to changes in patient condition and escalate to the appropriate team members as necessary.
  • Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
