About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director, responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of total nursing care for assigned patients. The RN may work in various settings within the Critical Care/Telemetry Complex and roles within Riverside Health System. The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to create a care plan for each patient, considering physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. The RN is responsible for supervising and delegating tasks to non-professional personnel to ensure optimal patient care. Competence in addressing age-related needs of specific patient populations served in Critical Care/Telemetry units/departments is required. The RN works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services and clinical care in accordance with Riverside Health System's standards of excellence, facility goals, and strategic plans.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (Required)
  • 1 year Registered Nurse (Required)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served in the Critical Care/Telemetry units/departments.
  • Partners with patients and families to develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care, treatments, and procedures that contribute to the physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient.
  • Assesses and incorporates evidence-based standards of practice.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in the coordination of care.
  • Facilitates safe patient transitions to the next care setting as part of the plan of care.
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to assure patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care.
  • Focuses on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer needs, including current evidence-based practice and quality measures.
  • Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations and ability to modify education methods to ensure patient/family comprehension.
  • Educates by assuming responsibility to individualize and coordinate patient education, and discharge-specific education that includes family/caregiver.
  • Evaluates for patient comprehension and documents.
  • Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met.
  • Able to recognize and respond to emergency situations.
  • Evaluates own needs for support and uses identified systems to meet need.
