About The Position

This Registered Nurse position in Williamsburg, Virginia, is part of a labor pool for Med Surg. The hiring range is $36.50 - $50.23 per hour, with actual pay determined by factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs. The RN works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director, responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of total nursing care for assigned patients. This role utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to create patient care plans that consider physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. The RN is also responsible for supervising and delegating tasks to non-professional personnel to ensure optimal patient care and must demonstrate competence in addressing the age-related needs of specific patient populations. Working under leadership and a multi-disciplinary team, the RN provides a comprehensive range of services and clinical care in accordance with Riverside Health System's standards and facility goals.

Requirements

  • MSN, BSN, ADN, or nursing diploma required.
  • Licensed RN or board eligible by the State of Virginia or compact state required.
  • BLS Card required.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty certification in field highly encouraged.
  • Experience preferred in an acute care setting but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population.
  • Demonstrates nursing unit specific competencies and equipment training.
  • Partners with patients and their family to develop, implement and evaluate a plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient.
  • Incorporates evidence based standards of practice and collaborates with interdisciplinary team in care coordination.
  • Facilitates safe patient transition to next level of care as part of plan of care.
  • Demonstrates sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to ensure patient receives consistent, competent and ethical care.
  • Focuses on quality outcomes of patient when addressing service needs to ensure evidence based quality care of patient.
  • Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations.
  • Modifies education method to ensure patient/family understanding.
  • Assumes responsibility to coordinate and deliver individualized patient education and discharge specific education to family/caregivers.
  • Evaluates for comprehension and documents.
  • Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Delegates and prioritizes tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and service excellence to meet the patient's care needs.
  • Recognizes and responds to emergency situations.
  • Evaluates resources and support needed and uses systems to ensure needs are met.
