About The Position

This Registered Nurse position in Williamsburg, Virginia, operates within the Labor Pool for Med Surg. The RN works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director, taking responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of total nursing care for assigned patients. This role requires the utilization of communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to develop patient care plans that consider physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. The RN is also responsible for supervising and delegating tasks to non-professional personnel to ensure optimal patient care. Competence in addressing age-related needs of specific patient populations is essential. The role involves working under leadership and a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive clinical care in alignment with Riverside Health System's standards of excellence and strategic goals.

Requirements

  • MSN, BSN, ADN, or nursing diploma required.
  • Licensed RN or board eligible by the State of Virginia or compact state required.
  • BLS Card required.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty certification in field highly encouraged.
  • Experience preferred in an acute care setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs applying standards of practice relevant to the specialty or patient population.
  • Demonstrate nursing unit specific competencies and equipment training.
  • Partner with patients and families to develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care, treatments, and procedures that contribute to patient outcomes.
  • Incorporate evidence-based standards of practice and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in care coordination.
  • Facilitate safe patient transitions to the next level of care.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput, ensuring consistent, competent, and ethical care.
  • Focus on quality patient outcomes when addressing service needs.
  • Modify education methods to ensure patient/family understanding, considering diverse patient care populations.
  • Coordinate and deliver individualized patient education and discharge-specific education to family/caregivers, evaluating comprehension and documenting.
  • Accurately complete all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and service excellence.
  • Recognize and respond to emergency situations.
  • Evaluate resources and support needed, using systems to ensure needs are met.
