About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Maternity department provides care to childbearing women and their newborns, as well as selected gynecologic and clean surgical patients. The role requires assessing the physical and emotional needs of patients and their families, developing and implementing a plan of care, and evaluating its effectiveness. The RN must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient within a safe and nurturing environment.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a BSN or MSN program from an accredited school of professional nursing within six months of hire or rehire and graduate on or before the third employment anniversary date into a nursing position.
- Registered nurse license required.
- BLS within months of hire required.
- NRP within 3 months of hire required.
Nice To Haves
- BSN or MSN graduates preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide care to childbearing women and their newborns.
- Provide care to selected gynecologic and clean surgical patients.
- Assess the physical and emotional needs of the patient/family.
- Develop a plan of care that incorporates patient needs and age/developmental considerations.
- Implement the plan of care.
- Supervise others in the implementation of the plan of care.
- Assess the effectiveness of the plan of care.
