About The Position

This position is in support of the County of Sarasota Florida to provide care for those with special needs who are displaced in the event of a large-scale disaster. This position requires the individual to be able to respond to a disaster with in 24 hours of notice to establish care with in 72 hours of notification. This is a post disaster mission and will require the individual to be onsite until conclusion of the operation. The RN Medical Manager is responsible for the overall management of the medical operations of the shelter and is the deputy Team leader for the project. The Medical Manager will have administrative oversight over all nursing staff at the shelter.

  • Graduate from an associate's or baccalaureate nursing program for Registered Nurses located in a State, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Minimum five years of professional experience as a licensed registered nurse in a hospital, medical office or residential setting.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Florida.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • Current and valid driver's license.
  • Understanding of Nursing operations and care in an austere environment.
  • Ability to navigate in an electronic work environment including electronic health records, web-based training and communications.
  • Knowledge of, and moderate proficiency in, common Microsoft Office programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
  • Demonstrate strong organization and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Cultural competency and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall performance of the medical operations.
  • Manage staff schedule and rotations for all personnel.
  • Serve as the project representative when required.
  • Provide updates to the county and agencies as required.
  • Ensures quality care and accountability of patients.
  • Leads shift handovers and after-action reviews.
  • Serves as lead for all medical training and oversight.
  • Provides medical care within scope when required.
  • Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.
