Requirements

  • Active RN License
  • Leadership Experience in Skilled Nursing
  • Hands-On Care Experience
  • CPR Certified (or Willing to Obtain)
  • Tech-Savvy in EMR/EHR Systems
  • Team Leadership & Clinical Oversight

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee resident care across units, ensuring consistent, compassionate service and timely communication with nursing leadership.
  • Respond calmly and professionally to critical situations, offering clinical guidance and direction during medical or behavioral crises.
  • Step in to assist with medications, treatments, IV administration, feeding, and other direct care tasks as needed.
  • Complete AIMS testing biannually for residents on antipsychotic medications and assess elders experiencing acute changes or injuries.
  • Enforce infection control protocols and participate in routine audits, chart reviews, and care plan updates.
  • Join physician rounds, communicate updates with care teams, transcribe and implement orders, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Attend care plan meetings, assess new or declining residents, and document findings and interventions with accuracy and detail.
  • Serve as the administrative authority during your shift, addressing concerns, guiding staff, and keeping leadership informed of urgent and non-urgent matters.
  • Provide real-time coaching, participate in performance evaluations, assist with disciplinary actions, and maintain optimal staffing levels.
  • Manage call-offs, fill staffing gaps, and keep the schedule updated, ensuring every unit is safely and effectively staffed.
  • Support compliance through regular rounds, workflow planning, and ongoing supervision. Prepare for surveys and maintain a high standard of resident care.
  • Receive and direct employee, elder, and family grievances to the appropriate departments with care and discretion.
  • Function as a Unit Nurse when needed, assist in training new employees, and participate in discharge planning with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Complete continuing education, attend required meetings and in-services, assist with staff training, and contribute to policy development and committees.
  • Direct responses during drills and real emergencies, including severe weather, fires, and elopements, and ensure your team is ready for anything.
