Registered Nurse Manager
About The Position
The Registered Nurse Manager leads and mentors the clinical team for the MedSurg and ICU department at Via Christi, St Peter in Derby, Kansas. The role oversees hiring, professional development, and staff performance; improves unit workflows and resource allocation; resolves operational challenges to support patient quality and safety; maintains regulatory compliance; and manages unit budgets and expenditures. The position is full-time on the day shift. Via Christi associates are eligible for tuition discounts and priority placement in select healthcare programs through an academic partnership with Wichita State University.
Requirements
- Hold a Registered Nurse credential from the Kansas Board of Nursing.
- Obtain BLS Provider certification within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
- Have the required professional licensure/certification, at least 3 years of experience, and at least 1 year of cumulative leadership experience.
Responsibilities
- Oversee hiring, professional development, and performance of the clinical team.
- Optimize unit workflows and allocate resources for nursing staff and patients.
- Identify and resolve operational challenges to improve patient outcomes, quality, and safety.
- Maintain continuous regulatory compliance and ensure the unit meets national healthcare standards.
- Manage unit budgets and expenditures to provide necessary tools and supplies.
