About The Position

UVA Health is seeking experienced OR Registered Nurses to join our Weekend Program within the Main Operating Room. This unique opportunity offers an enhanced compensation package, a predictable weekend-only schedule, and the chance to work alongside nationally recognized surgeons and interdisciplinary teams in a highly specialized surgical environment. The Weekend Program is designed for experienced nurses seeking work-life balance while earning additional compensation. The Main OR at UVA Health is a fast-paced, highly specialized surgical environment where teamwork, clinical expertise, and critical thinking are essential. Our nurses care for patients across multiple complex surgical specialties while working with cutting-edge technology and nationally recognized surgeons. Every team member plays a critical role in delivering exceptional surgical care.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
  • Minimum of 2 years of Operating Room nursing experience
  • Experience in both scrub and circulating roles
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in one or more of the following specialty service lines: Gynecology, Urology, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Neurosurgery
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional patient care
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong scrub experience across multiple specialties
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care for surgical patients
  • Scrub and circulate surgical procedures
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Promote patient safety and evidence-based nursing practice
  • Maintain excellence in clinical documentation and patient advocacy
  • Participate in continuous learning and professional development
