About The Position

A Registered Nurse (RN) is a nurse that has graduated from an accredited nursing program and is licensed as an RN by the State of Hawaii. The RN uses their advanced training in the delivery of care for patients and in the operation of an individual office and/or at the department level. These duties are considered in addition to the regular Registered Nurse (RN) duties. To qualify, a RN must be able to perform these skills independently of or with little direction from the physician. The position requires additional, specialized training beyond the normal daily activities of a RN. The RN must have expert clinical assessment skills, exemplary attention to detail, critical thinking, time management, multi-tasking and the ability to function autonomously in a largely protocol-driven and potentially unpredictable environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
  • Licensure as a RN in the State of Hawaii required
  • Active/unexpired CPR/BLS Card required
  • Ability to manage several tasks at the same time
  • Works overtime as needed
  • Updates education on own as necessary
  • Knows and uses principles of good body mechanics

  • Demonstrates effective communication and telephone skills
  • Computer literacy preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs general nursing duties, i.e.: escorting the patient to the exam room or office as indicated; prepares the patient for the examination, taking and recording the vital signs, observing symptoms and eliciting information from the patient and reporting to the provider during the examination as necessary; carries out or assists with procedures and/or treatments as directed by the provider
  • Prepares the patient records before the visit insuring that all reports are available; maintains an accurate record of all medications, injections and treatments administered to the patient during the course of the visit; checks patient record following the exam, and completes necessary requisition, and makes appointments for the patient with other departments or offices as indicated.
  • Directs and supervise other health care personnel in clinic, including delegation of duties to other clinical staff as appropriate and within their scope of practice.
  • Screens all phone calls to the provider to determine if an appointment is indicated; calls patients on the phone to relay instructions or advice from the provider as indicated. Performs patient teaching and/or nursing checks in accordance with provider guidelines.
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following facility and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
  • Maintains or oversees sanitary conditions in the office at all times; oversees that necessary supplies are available.
  • All other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
  • Demonstrates quality work, completes assignments on a timely basis, and makes decisions within limits of authority. Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains time and attendance standards consistent with company policy.
  • Working independently of the physician, the RN is expected to undertake the following treatments: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) Extract Laser Therapy (Psoriasis) Collagen Pin Deep (phenol) chemical peels Laser Treatments
  • The RN is also required to supervise other staff members assisting in this clinic as well as be able to handle complications that arise during treatment.
  • Areas of provision of physician/mid-level provider assistance include: Various in office dermatological procedures
  • Participates in cosmetic product line recommendations and sales
