About The Position

This is a part-time position (30 hours per week) with day shifts, Monday through Friday. The role is responsible for the care of women with high-risk pregnancies in the ambulatory setting, with a specific focus on diabetes in pregnancy. The RN will provide specialized nursing care, education, and care coordination. Collaboration with providers, diabetes educators, pharmacies, and insurance companies is essential for medication prior authorizations and facilitating access to therapies and supplies. Additional duties include telephone triage and coordination of care. The position also involves fetal monitoring. Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-2 years obstetrical nursing experience required.
  • Fetal monitoring experience required.
  • Strong clinical judgment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a multidisciplinary maternal-fetal medicine setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provision of competent direct patient care based on established standards.
  • Contribution to unit activities and support of the enhancement of the care delivery system at the unit level.
  • Support of peers in the delivery of patient care services.
  • Assumption of an expanded role which may include charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member responsibilities.
  • Focus on diabetes in pregnancy providing specialized nursing care, education, and care coordination.
  • Collaboration with providers, diabetes educators, pharmacies, and insurance companies to complete medication prior authorizations and facilitate timely access to prescribed therapies and supplies.
  • Telephone triage to ensure communication between patients and providers.
  • Coordination of care for women experiencing a high-risk pregnancy.
  • Fetal monitoring.
