About The Position

Provides care for obstetrical and infant patients through education and consultation. Functions as a resource for patients, families, staff, and the community. This position is bonus eligible.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Nursing.
  • Two (2) years L&D, Mom/Baby, lactation, or related nursing experience.
  • Holds a current RN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or is licensed to practice as an RN in the state the team member is working.
  • IBCLC required to obtain within 18 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the physical, educational, and discharge needs of obstetrical, newborn, or breastfeeding patients.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve the care of mothers, infants, and children in both inpatient and outpatient settings based on patient assessments and trends.
  • Develops and revises evidence-based nursing policy, procedures, standards of care, protocols, and preprinted orders.
  • Provides evidence-based nursing care for mothers and infants through direct patient consultation or the telephone helpline.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to identify cost-effective alternatives and facilitate discharges.
  • Serves as a resource, educator, and consultant for patients, families, staff, and the community.
  • Evaluates and recommends new products, tools, etc., using best practice models, evidence-based materials, and research.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
