About The Position
Supports other consultants as needed. Participates in community education opportunities regarding breastfeeding, research projects, speaking engagements, and other company committees. Keeps supplies clean and orderly according to policy and reports any needed supplies or educational materials to the supervisor. Greets all patients in a friendly, professional manner. Requirements
- Communicates effectively
- Triage care based on patient needs
- Organizational Skills
- Skill and proficiency in applying highly technical principles, concepts, and techniques that are central to the profession
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to use Interpreter service appropriately
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS)
- Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC)
Nice To Haves
- Skilled in teaching adults and adolescents
- Skill and proficiency in applying highly technical principles, concepts, and techniques that are central to the profession
- Skill in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for the breastfeeding mother and baby acquired through 1-2 years of experience as a lactation consultant
- Current research information regarding Breastfeeding
- Maternity nursing and Newborn nursing knowledge
- Additional languages preferred, especially Spanish
- Associate's of Nursing
- 1+ acute care hospital
- 2+ maternity or newborn experience
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Breastfeeding Counselor (CBC)
