We have a new need for a Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery, at the Naval Medical Center San Diego, California. This role involves coordinating patient care in collaboration with a wide array of healthcare professionals to achieve optimal outcomes in relation to clinical care, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The nurse will ensure compliance with standards of care and practice, perform physical exams and health histories, and provide health promotions, counseling, and education. Responsibilities include administering medications, wound care, and other interventions. The role may involve providing clinical direction or assisting in the instruction of care provided by other healthcare professionals, but not serving as a Charge Nurse. The nurse will also provide clinical direction for making patient care assignments based on scope of practice and skill level, recognize adverse signs and symptoms, react in emergency situations, and communicate and collaborate with diverse groups to inform the healthcare team, teach patients/families, and make referrals for specialty care. The position also includes performing nursing services identified in the unit and conducting research to support improved practice and patient outcomes.
