About The Position

This is a Registered Nurse position in Labor and Delivery. The orientation period is reduced to 0 hours compared to the standard 40 hours. Local candidates will be paid at the same rate as permanent employees. Permanent candidates from other providence facilities (non-Swedish) are eligible for a travel contract if they have been separated for at least 3 months. All Swedish facilities honor active compact licenses. The role requires 2 years of experience and does not accept first-time travelers. Epic experience is required. Required certifications include BLS, FHM, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate, and ACLS (preferred). The nurse will care for patients with diagnoses such as labor and preterm labor in 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms. Responsibilities include circulating, assisting with OB-GYN procedures, post-operative and pre-operative care, scrubbing, and managing low-risk antepartum and low-risk labor and delivery patients. Special procedures include blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, use of cooling/warming blankets, drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, and wound vacs. Medications managed include Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate. Special equipment and procedures include attending all deliveries, high-risk deliveries, GYN surgeries, couplet care, low-risk antepartum care, and transition nursery care. The staffing ratio is 1:1-3. Floating to Post-Partum and NICU is possible based on skill set.
