About The Position

Labor and Delivery is a high risk specialized unit that provides care to pregnant individuals prior to and during labor, childbirth, and the immediate postpartum period. This unit has 17 private birthing suites, 5 Triage/PACU beds, 4 OR Rooms, 3 bed Obstetric Emergency Department care, and a specialized Antepartum unit that provides care for women with high-risk pregnancies and post-partum diagnoses needing supportive care. The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers compassionate, evidence-based care designed to support healing and wellness. In this role, you’ll coordinate, ensure, and provide direct patient care while creating an environment rooted in dignity, respect, and empathy. You will use your clinical expertise and critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for patients across the lifespan. As a clinical nurse, you’ll spend the majority of your time (>50%) coordinating, ensuring, and providing direct patient care.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky
  • Basic Life Support (Must obtain within 30 days of hire.)
  • ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting nursing rounds, assessments, and treatments
  • Facilitating admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Providing patient and family-centered education
  • Coordinating care and developing individualized treatment plans
  • Perform comprehensive assessments and develop individualized care plans based on patient needs
  • Administer medications and implement nursing interventions in accordance with best practices and hospital policy
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care
  • Monitor and document patient responses, revising care plans as needed
  • Support a culture of safety, quality improvement, and compassionate service
  • Mentor and support colleagues and new team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
