About The Position

Sentara RMH Medical Center is now hiring a Registered Nurse for the Joints/Observation unit. This position is ideal for candidates who have experience or interest in postoperative joint surgery care and observation patients. December 2026 and May 2027 graduates are highly encouraged to apply! This role is part of a 10-week Transition to Practice (TTP) program, which focuses on orientation and skill acquisition for Medical-Surgical areas. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program. The program includes formal delivery of fundamental nursing concepts and standards with in-person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs, exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines, hands-on experience alongside a trained nurse preceptor, and opportunity to share experiences/network with peers in a safe, protected environment. A series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring are also included (optional for experienced nurses).

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree – Nursing (Required)
  • Will consider candidates working towards licensure
  • Previous acute care experience (preferred)
  • All levels of experience are encouraged to apply
