Registered Nurse IV - 4S Oncology - 12hr Days
About The Position
Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Registered Nurse IV for their 4South Oncology unit. This 63-bed unit provides care to patients with various medical diagnoses including pneumonia, tuberculosis, sepsis, sickle cell anemia, cancer, and palliative care. The nursing approach is multidisciplinary, focusing on pain management, medications, self-care, nutrition, and education. The team also administers chemotherapy, monitors patients, provides metabolic support, and educates patients and caregivers. The unit cares for patients undergoing chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, as well as those with leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma undergoing stem cell/bone marrow transplantation. Medical and telemetry patients are also cared for, and nurses administer medications for research protocols. As a Registered Nurse IV on 4South, you will be responsible and accountable for the supervision and application of the nursing process throughout patient care delivery. You will act as an expert clinician with a high standard of knowledge and expertise in a specialty and general nursing. You will consistently demonstrate excellence in nursing care delivery, staff education, research, and collaboration. This role involves managing complex and unpredictable patient care situations, serving as a nursing leader and resource to staff, the unit, the organization, and the community to advance nursing. Experience with project oversight, quality improvement work, or unit-based initiatives is expected, as is the ability to apply clinical knowledge for cost savings and demonstrate knowledge of regulatory requirements for patient assignments, delegation, documentation, and overseeing the care delivery team. Leadership is demonstrated through initiative, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Experience leading or supporting timely discharges, patient throughput, admissions, transfers, and overall hospital flow, as well as precepting, coaching, mentoring, and developing staff, is also required.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN or higher required.
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license required upon hire.
- Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required upon hire.
- National Specialty Certification (i.e. OCN, TCTCN) required.
- Minimum of 5 years acute RN experience including 3 years experience in complex cellular therapy/hematology-oncology patient population required.
- Meets specialty specific clinical competencies for assigned area.
- Has maintained satisfactory Clinical Nurse III status for a minimum of one (1) year.
- Have an overall performance evaluation of “Strongly Meets” or higher.
- Meets clinical criteria and protocol of Clinical Nurse IV.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of applicable standards of practice.
- Demonstrate commitment to providing excellent customer service and the ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients, families, and healthcare colleagues.
Nice To Haves
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Certification preferred; required within six months of hire
