About The Position

The Registered Nurse (Internal Traveler) assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status. This position is ECB status – requires a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department; limited benefit offerings. The assignment is a 13-week assignment with possible extension per admin approval. The role involves working nights, specifically from 7pm to 7am, with a pay rate of $55 per hour. The nurse will utilize the nursing process in caring for assigned patients, completing assessments, and individualizing plans of care. They will carry out nursing care with consideration for cultural and psychosocial factors and ages of individual patients, organizing, prioritizing, and performing nursing skills appropriate for the patient population. The role requires anticipating patient/unit needs, demonstrating sound knowledge of the bio-psychosocial model, and delegating and communicating effectively. The nurse will demonstrate professional judgment in response to changing patient/unit situations, document care accurately, and address problems and progress toward outcomes according to unit/nursing policy. They will also facilitate patient teaching and discharge, make timely referrals, and utilize resources for patient education, considering patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors. Collaboration with other disciplines and support of unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities are expected. Attending mandatory in-services and meeting unit education standards are also required. The role involves independent judgment in planning operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field. The nurse works directly with patients and/or customers, internal/external customers, and other healthcare professionals and staff.

Requirements

  • 1 year related experience in selected specialty.
  • 1 year a Registered Nurse experience required
  • Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.
  • Working knowledge of disease state management processes, bio- psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 24 hours per week - (2) 12 hour shifts
  • Available to work on any shift as needed
  • Availability for holiday and weekend coverage

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years Registered Nurse experience preferred
  • EPIC charting software preferred
  • BLS and ACLS preferred.
