Registered Nurse (RN) - Intermediate Care Unit (Stepdown)
About The Position
Sentara Obici Hospital is seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). As an IMCU RN, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based care to patients requiring close observation and specialized nursing support. You will play an essential role in monitoring complex conditions, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, and ensuring a smooth transition for patients between critical care and general medical-surgical units. The IMCU is a 24-bed unit that provides care for higher acuity patients in neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and renal. Typical patients include respiratory failure/congestive heart failure, chronic trached ventilator patients, stroke and seizure patients, MI cardiac patients, Renal hemodialysis, and post-op surgical patients with extensive wounds such as decubs, VAT's, ortho, and ostomy. Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Registered nursing License (Required)
- Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License.
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- None required (experience)
- 1 year of acute care (preferred)
- Previous healthcare experience (preferred)
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
- Students in the process of completing an accredited nursing program.
Responsibilities
- Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the nursing process.
- Assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion and evaluation.
- Ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
- Possess clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
