About The Position

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our ICU at our M Health Fairview Woodwinds Hospital location in Woodbury, MN. Within our ICU, our Registered Nurses are responsible for caring for patients who have many different diagnoses including, but not limited to, sepsis, overdoses, withdrawals, and surgical patients who need a higher level of care. Our complex patients require continuous hemodynamic monitoring, intense medication management, ongoing critical thinking, and excellent communication with team members and families. This is a fast-paced and highly technical medical environment. This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the Night shift, working every third weekend. The ICU is a 3-North unit with 18 beds of mixed acuity, serving patients aged 18+. The patient average length of stay is 3-4 days. The patient population includes those on vents, experiencing codes, respiratory failures, sepsis, shock, unstable post-surgical conditions, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and diabetics. The unit typically sees 7-14 patients a day, with plans to increase these numbers. Free parking is available. The position will consider experienced ICU nurses or those looking to advance their careers. Requirements

  • Associate degree in Nursing
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Valid RN Licensure from MN Board of Nursing
  • At least 1 year or RN ICU experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing

  • ACLS

Responsibilities

  • Assessing patient needs and identifying expected nursing outcomes
  • Developing an individualized nursing plan of care
  • Implementing interventions as needed during treatment based on the plan of care
  • Evaluating care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes
  • Using communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes
  • Coordinating care with members of the health care team and delegating responsibilities to others as appropriate
  • Demonstrating the ability to advance care by applying standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes
  • Promoting a culture of evidence based practice (EBP) by participating in a multitude of available opportunities
  • Performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act
