The Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care according to the nursing process. The Registered Nurse is expected to direct, delegate, and coordinate all nursing care provided by the LPN, CNA, Patient Care Companion, and Unit Clerk, ensuring consistency with their roles, responsibilities, and skill levels. Assignments are performed appropriately for the age and developmental level of the patient population being served. This role requires professionalism in interpersonal communication with patients, families, and colleagues, and excellent communication skills for dealing with physicians, patients, family, and other disciplines. The nurse will administer medications according to established policies and comply with patient safety goals and programs. They will also contribute to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and co-workers, and support research and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
