About The Position

This is a Registered Nurse position in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The unit is a 42-bed ICU that includes Neuro/Medical ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, and Surgical/Trauma ICU. The patient population consists of adults with high-acuity needs. Block scheduling is not guaranteed, and floating to applicable ICU units is required as needed. Common patient diagnoses include stroke, sepsis, altered mental status, neuro interventions, respiratory failure, CHF, post-STEMI, cardiovascular surgery, cardiogenic shock, AAA surgery, trauma, and major post-operative surgical patients. Candidates must be comfortable with high-acuity ICU equipment and therapies, including CRRT (Prismaflex or NxStage), IABP, mechanical ventilation, ventriculostomy, ICP monitoring, TTM/Arctic Sun, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring. Heart/cardiac experience is highly preferred and will be prioritized. The shift is from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Floating may include applicable ICU units; Behavioral Health and the Emergency Department are excluded except when holding patients.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience.
• Experience in one or more of the following: ICU, SICU, CTICU, Trauma ICU, Medical-Surgical ICU, Neuro ICU.
• Previous travel nursing experience required.
• CRRT and Prismaflex experience required.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Active New York RN license.
• All active RN licenses must be verified through Nursys.
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
• Specialty skills checklist required.
• Valid driver's license with address matching submitted demographics.
• RTO must be included at time of submission.
• Willingness to float as needed.

Nice To Haves

• 4–5 years of ICU experience preferred.
• Strong cardiac/heart experience highly preferred.
• NxStage experience (in addition to Prismaflex).

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in an ICU setting.
• Manage adult high-acuity patients.
• Float to applicable ICU units as needed.
• Utilize high-acuity ICU equipment and therapies.
• Monitor patient diagnoses including stroke, sepsis, respiratory failure, cardiovascular surgery, trauma, etc.
• Administer CRRT, manage mechanical ventilation, ICP monitoring, etc.
