About The Position

Sentara RMH Medical Center is hiring a registered nurse for the Critical Care Unit. This position is ideal for candidates who have experience or an interest in providing care for medical/surgical ICU patients and cardiothoracic surgical patients. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is available, and relocation assistance is provided to those who meet the specified criteria. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. The Transition to Practice/Nurse Residency Program is a 10-week program focused on orientation and transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in Medical-Surgical areas. For new graduates, this program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support their transition to practice. The program includes formal delivery of fundamental critical care nursing concepts and standards via foundational ECCO modules blended with in-person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs. It also includes exposure to Sentara policies and evidence-based practice guidelines as recommended by the AACN, hands-on experience in the intensive care unit alongside a trained nurse preceptor, and the opportunity to share experiences/network with peers in a safe, protected environment. A series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring are also offered (optional for experienced nurses).

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse License (Required)
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree - Nursing (Required)
