The Registered Nurse - Inpatient Wound Care serves as the clinical resource and consultant for acute and rehabilitative patients with selected disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems, including alterations in skin, wounds, draining wounds/fistulas, dermal wounds, ostomies, and incontinence. This role involves collaborating and consulting with physicians, clinical staff, patients, and families to develop and implement wound ostomy continence plans of care. The nurse also acts as a resource to staff for patient care needs, assists in patient and family education, and participates in clinical research and evidence-based practice related to wound ostomy continence patient care.
