About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse in a busy Infusion Suite. The role involves providing professional nursing care to clinic patients under the supervision of physicians and the Operations Manager. Key responsibilities include managing infusion drugs and supplies, preparing patients for infusions, administering medications, monitoring patients during infusions, and documenting all patient care activities. The nurse will also be involved in patient education, maintaining infection control and safety standards, and assisting with administrative tasks related to patient care and billing.

Requirements

  • RN Degree Required
  • Minimum of one-year professional nursing experience
  • State RN license
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
  • Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques.
  • Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace and confidentiality methods.
  • Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data.
  • Ability to work effectively as team members with physicians and other staff.
  • Ability to appropriately interact with patients, family’s staff and others.
  • Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in INFUSIONS required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain inventory of infusion drugs and supplies needed for clinic, IV supplies, medications, etc.
  • Place order for medications and supplies one week in advance.
  • Complete benefit investigation forms for potential new patients for infusions.
  • Ensure the infusion room is clean, stocked, and ready for the next day's infusions.
  • Assess patient's general condition and take vital signs and weight.
  • Prep patients for IV set up and start IV.
  • Mix and prepare medications for infusion once patient has been cleared to receive infusion.
  • Monitor patients while receiving infusions.
  • Provide basic patient care as ordered by physician.
  • Assist physicians with examinations, diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  • Document all activities/interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed, etc., in patients’ medical record.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials, communicating physician advice/instructions.
  • Adhere to infection control/safety guidelines, and company confidentiality policies.
  • Maintain supplies in emergency cart and oxygen tanks.
  • Confirm with ward secretary that all authorizations have been obtained from patient’s insurance carrier one day prior to infusions.
  • Properly code procedures performed and the units of medications received on billing slip before giving to physician to review.
  • Assist other nursing staff in current department with voice mails, return calls to patients/pharmacies, etc.
  • Assist with triaging patients for physicians as time permits.
  • Provide coverage for physician as needed.
