POSITION: Casual Registered Nurse-Infusion (As needed) EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Casual-As Needed WORK SCHEDULE: Days/Nights DEPARTMENT: IV Therapy Internal Posting Through: 9/16/2026 Job Summary: This position is responsible to provide timely, accurate and professional nursing care to the patients and families who utilize the Infusion Services of Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed in the State of Minnesota.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • ONS Chemotherapy Provider Card or ability to attain within 6 months required.
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in providing direct patient care and patient and family education.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values.
  • Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • ONC Certification preferred.
  • 1-2 years of recent experience in infusion therapy preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with the providers to assess the needs of each patient on an individual basis and provide the services necessary to meet these needs.
  • Completes admission assessment according to unit policy, utilizing past medical history, therapeutic communication and physical assessment.
  • Identifies accurately, nursing diagnosis/collaborative problems to determine appropriate interventions within the framework of accepted standards of care.
  • Assumes patient care responsibilities by organizing workload effectively and remaining flexible to environmental changes.
  • Communicates professionally and effectively with patients, families, co-workers, healthcare team members and ancillary departments to ensure “Patient-Centered” coordination of care.
  • Performs assessment and maintenance of central lines, PICC lines, and Port-a-caths, Groshong catheters, etc. including flushes and blood draws per established protocols.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities to evaluate and improve patient care.
  • Promotes an environment that encourages individual growth and heightens professional practice.
  • Participates in professional growth and self-development activities to ensure accountability for own professional nursing practice.
  • Participates in staff meetings, committees and special projects; actively contributes to the needs of Grand Itasca Outpatient Care Services and Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital.
  • Performs and assists with patient care, assessment and education as needed, including but not limited to: Performs IV Therapy including fluid infusions, antibiotic infusions, blood products, albumin, and medication infusions per protocol.
  • Coordinates and administers chemotherapy to patients via oral, IV push, IV infusion, or bladder installation according to safety standards developed by the Oncology Nursing Society and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
  • Performs assessment and maintenance of central lines, PICC lines, and Port-a-caths, Groshong catheters, etc. including flushes and blood draws per established protocols.
